Dr Jessica Heard
Dr. Jessica Heard

Veterinarian, Owner

Dr. Heard, our remarkable veterinarian and the proud owner of our practice. She’s a graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Poultry Science, and her journey with SPVH began in 2004.

Dr. Heard’s passion in veterinary medicine lies in solving problems for our cherished clients, providing innovative solutions and exceptional care.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Heard humorously wonders what spare time is, her hobbies include gardening. She shares her home with Oswald, a 7-year-old golden retriever with a unique mission- preventing 100% of airplanes from landing in his yard.

With a heart for both her practice and her garden, Dr. Heard brings creativity and dedication to everything she touches.

Dr. Christina Ferguson
Dr. Christina Ferguson
Veterinarian

Dr. Ferguson began her veterinary career practicing in New York City. She returned to Maryland to practice emergency medicine at Anne Arundel Veterinary Emergency Clinic in Annapolis.

She has since practiced in numerous small animal hospitals in the local area doing relief work while she raises her three young children. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Maryland Medical Association.

Her interests include emergency, pediatric, and geriatric medicine. She also enjoys treating and helping pocket pets and exotics. In her free time she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family on the Severn River boating, kayaking, horseback riding, skiing, and traveling.

She has an assortment of animals that include her West Highland Terrier, “Winston,” hamster, “Roxie,” Gecko lizard, “T-Rex,” goldfish, and hermit crabs.

Dr. Ainsley Todd Storm
Dr. Ainsley Storm Todd Parks

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Ainsley Storm Todd Parks, a dedicated veterinarian with a passion for healing. Dr. Storm holds a Bachelor of Science from Salisbury University and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri.

Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is surgery, where she mends and cares for pets, and her soft spot lies within working with brachiocephalic (flat-faced) breeds.

Dr. Storm became a cherished member of our SPVH family in 2017, bringing her healing touch and warmth to our team. When she’s not in the clinic, she finds solace in the adventure of travel, the company of a good book, the tranquility of being on the water, and the joy of family moments.

At home, her life is enriched by her furry companions. Charles and Billie Jean, her beloved French Bulldogs, add a touch of charm to her world, while Miles the cat and Jem the rabbit bring diverse personalities and joy to her everyday life.

Dr. Storm is a testament to the love and dedication that fuel our SPVH family.

Dr. Mary Rose Wilkinson

Veterinarian

Dr. Mary Rose Wilkinson, our passionate Associate Veterinarian with a remarkable journey in the field of veterinary medicine. Dr. Wilkinon’s academic path began AT Murray State University in Kentucky, where she earned her bachelor’s in science and agriculture in 2018.

Her pursuit of knowledge didn’t stop there. From 2018 to 2022, she held a license as a Veterinary Technologist while continuing her studies at the Royal Veterinary College of London. There she achieved a Bachelor of Science in Comparative Veterinary Pathology in 2020 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine in 2023.

Dr. Wilkinson’s favorite part of Veterinary Medicine is the privilege of working with families to provide care for their beloved furry companions. She finds great satisfaction in crafting unique treatment plans that consider the needs of both pets and their devoted owners.

In 2023, she became a cherished member of our SPVH family, bringing her expertise and compassion to our team.

Outside of her profession, Dr. Wilkinson has a variety of interests. She enjoys creating beautiful crochet clothing and delicate lace, mastering the art of embroidery, and spending tranquil days fishing. At home, she shares her life with a charming feline quartet.

Baloo and Rikki-Tikki-Tavi are her two sphynx cats while Mowgli and Bagheera are her two medium-haired companions. Dr. Wilkinson’s dedication to the welfare of both animals and their families is a shining light within our SPVH family.

Dr. Bill Schmidt

Veterinarian

Dr. Schmidt grew up on the east coast and spent a lot of time in Annapolis as growing up.

He ultimately attended the University of Florida where he met his wife and upon graduation moved to Massachusetts to practice small animal medicine. 

Dr. Schmidt shares his home with two adorable dogs Buddy and Murphy, and CeCe the cat.

Cindy

Customer Service Representative

Cindy, our dedicated Customer Service Representative, and a passionate animal advocate. Cindy’s educational journey took her to Cedar Valley College, where she honed her skills in Veterinary Technology.

Her love for animals runs deep, and she’s equally enthralled by the realms of medicine and science. Veterinary Medicine, the perfect fusion of her passions, captured her heart.

Cindy embarked on her journey with SPVH in 2002 and has been a steadfast and compassionate presence ever since. Beyond her work, she thrives on sharing precious moments with her pets and contributing to rescue work, connecting with her rescue friends, and indulging in the joy of crafting.

Nature calls her, and she answers with beach trips and camping adventures. Her life is enriched by her wonderful pets, including Hermie Hermster, the ancient crustacean, who’s been a cherished part of her world for over a decade, and her lovable Leopard Gecko, Sparky Sparkles who adds a touch of exotic charm to her thriving family. They remind us that the love for animals knows no bounds.

Customer Service Manager

Ashley, our dedicated Customer Service Manager and Marketing Director. A graduate of the Broadcasting Institute of Maryland in 2002, she brings a wealth of communication and marketing expertise to our team.

Ashley’s favorite part of veterinary medicine is witnessing the incredible journey of patients as they grow from little ones into their golden years and building long lasting connections with our clients.

Ashley has been an integral part of SPVH since 2005, and her enthusiasm and dedication shine through her work. Outside of the clinic, she finds solace in the world of crafts, enjoys quality time with her family and friends, and dives into the captivating world of books.

At home, she shares her life with Bruce, a hound mix, who is on a fun-filled journey to master the art of agility. With a heart full of love for both our clients and her furry companion, Ashley adds warmth and expertise to our caring team.

Diana

Customer Service Representative

Diana, our cheerful Customer Service Representative, currently pursuing her studies at North Virginia Community College, specializing in Liberal arts with a focus on communication studies. She’s also working on a digital marketing certification to broaden her skills.

Diana’s favorite part of Veterinary Medicine is the joy of interacting with our clients and their beloved “fur babies”, and her passion for learning new things about veterinary medicine shines brightly.

Diana became part of our SPVH Family in September 2021, and her enthusiasm and dedication have been a wonderful addition. Outside of her work and studies, you’ll often find her indulging in the beauty of poetry books, exploring the world through captivating documentaries, and finding serenity in the great outdoors through hiking.

Diana shares her life with a loving fur family, including Tommy Bahamma a 12.5-year-old Pitbull rescued from BARCS, and Harley Ren, a 5-year-old Vizsla, also a BARCS rescue. Her feline companions, Khaleesi and Remington, traveled all the way from Bosnia to find a loving home with Diana. They’re not just pets to her; they’re her kids and the most amazing and loving bunch. With a heart full of compassion, Diana adds warmth and empathy to our caring team.

Customer Service Representative

Cara, our delightful Customer Service Representative, whose welcoming demeanor brightens every visit to our clinic. Cara loves getting to know everyone who walks through our doors and forming connections with their furry family members.

When she’s not at work, you’ll find her binge-watching her favorite shows or enjoying quality time with her intelligent and energetic dog, Roxy, who loves to cuddle and watch movies. Roxy’s favorite film? “Minions” of course!

Her life is complete if she has her most cherished toy, Piggleswarth! Cara’s life is filled with laughter and great company, both human and canine.

Customer Service Representative

Hannah, our friendly Customer Service Representative who holds a bachelor’s in business administration from SUNY Albany.

When asked why she chose the world of Veterinary Medicine, her answer is a testament to her love for continuous learning and the joy of facing new challenges every day.

Hannah started her journey with us in June 2022, and her enthusiasm has been a delightful addition to our team. Outside of her role at the clinic, you’ll often find Hannah immersed in the world of video games, but when she’s not, she’s off on adventures.

Traveling to new places, exploring the depths of the ocean through scuba diving, and savoring the delicious flavors of Sushi are some of her favorite pastimes. At home, she shares her life with Goose, her Lovable and high-energy dog who never fails to bring an endless supply of joy and laughter to Hannah’s world.

Receptionist

Chris, the beloved guardian of SPVH, a cherished member of our family since 2005. She’s been part of our journey, transitioning from a receptionist to the heartwarming soul who now takes care of our reminder calls and lovingly crafts birthday cards for our patients.

Affectionately known as ‘Office Grandmother’ Chris brings warmth and comfort to all. With 10 ½ years of experience as a company trainer and 18 years as a veterinary receptionist, Chris is the embodiment of compassion and dedication.

Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is showering love on our patients and forging connections with their devoted owners.

She finds fulfillment in helping people during their time of need. Away from the clinic, you’ll discover Chris delightfully baking birthday brownies for the staff, spreading joy one treat at a time.

Her family includes Tiffany, the chubby Boston Terrier, a retired show dog, and Benny, the sassy and funny Boston Terrier. However, to Chris, they’re not just pets; they are cherished family members. With her nurturing spirit and dedication to our team, Chris is the heart and soul of SPVH.

Lorraine
Lorraine

Office Manager/Bookkeeper

Lorraine, our office wizard and keeper of the books! Armed with a bachelor’s degree, Lorraine has been an essential part of our team since 1992, wearing many hats along the way, and she continues to be a valuable member of our team today.

Among the many hats Lorraine has worn during her time here, her heart has always been with the animals of course!

As a master gardener, she cultivates green wonders, but her favorite moments are spent with her friends and family. At home two charming pugs Hazel and Hurley rule the roost.

Raven

Veterinary Nurse

Raven, our radiant veterinary nurse known for bringing sunshine wherever she goes. Raven is dedicated to her educational journey, currently studying animal behavior at Unity College, and enrolled in the Penn Foster Veterinary Technician program to advance her skills.

What lights up Raven’s Day is the fulfillment she finds in her job, knowing that she plays a vital role in saving and caring for animals. Her journey with SPVH began in February 202, and she’s been a beacon of positivity ever since.

In her leisure time, Raven is a nature enthusiast, often seen enjoying peaceful walks with her 6-year-old German Shepherd, Ace. He might look big and imposing, but to Raven, he’s her teddy bear. She’s also a beach lover, and an avid reader and cherishes quality time with her family.

Veterinary Nurse

Jennifer, our exceptional veterinary nurse! With 8 years of hands-on experience, Jennifer is a real MVP. She’s a firm believer of learning by doing, and her passion for helping animals is unmatched.

When she’s not wearing her technician superhero cape, Jennifer’s off on thrilling adventures like hiking, camping, kayaking, and canoeing. She’s got a 12-year-old Pitbull named Lucky who’s just as adventurous, and a sunbathing bearded dragon named Orochi.

Veterinary Nurse

Amy, our multi-talented veterinary nurse and artist! Amy’s got a unique blend of talents- she’s a veterinary nurse with a certificate from Anne Arundel Community College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The Juilliard School. Talk about a double threat! She loves being part of our animal-loving dream team, and her journey started in November 2022.

When she’s not taking care of furry friends, you can find her gardening, teaching, or engaging in various outdoor activities.

Amy also delights in spending quality time with her husband and two children, ensuring that each day is a canvas for love and creativity.

Dorothy

Veterinary Nurse

Dorothy, our dedicated Veterinary Nurse with five years’ experience under her belt. She joined our SPVH family in June 2022 and holds an associate degree in biology from Tidewater Community College.

Dorothy’s favorite part of veterinary medicine is twofold: Caring for the animals, which is her heart’s calling, and delving into the fascinating world of veterinary medicine, especially the intriguing and sometimes grotesque aspects like parasites and unusual cases.

She’s a devoted advocate for the voiceless patients under her care. Outside of her veterinary life, Dorothy wears another hat as a passionate birdwatcher and citizen scientist, contributing to research and conservation efforts. She’s an outdoor enthusiast, often seen hiking and camping.

Dorothy has a soft spot for watching delightfully cheesy sci-fi movies like Sharknado. At home, she shares her world with two precious Tuxedo cats, Isaiah, and Keren. With her love for animals, science, and the great outdoors, Dorothy brings both dedication and a sense of wonder to our caring team.

Alyssa
Alyssa

Lead Technician

Alyssa, our jack-of-all-trades Lead Technician who’s always exploring new horizons. Her veterinary expertise is as vast as her appetite for learning.

She’s passionate about continuing education in the veterinary field and forming deep bonds with our clients and their pets. Beyond the clinic, Alyssa is on a linguistic adventure, studying both the Japanese and Spanish languages.

When she’s not immersed in the world of veterinary care or language studies, she embarks on culinary adventures and indulges in a wide array of hobbies.

At home, she shares her life with a trio of charming dogs: Penny and Bruin, the lovable pugs, and Kona, the laid-back Pitbull. To top it off, there’s Pasta, the crested gecko.

Veterinary Technician

Jocelynn, one of our dedicated technicians at SPVH, whose journey in animal care is guided by her profound love for our furry friends. Jocelynn holds an associate degree from Anne Arundel Community College.

Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is being a part of a team that shares her unwavering passion for the well-being of animals. Jocelynn joined our SPVH family in August 2021, and her dedication to animal care has been a wonderful addition. In her leisure time, you’ll often find her hitting the hiking trails with her loyal companion, a 6-year-old German Shepherd she’s been training since he was a puppy. This special bond is one of her greatest joys and accomplishments. He may be a goofy and playful lug, but he’s also incredibly attuned to Jocelynn’s needs.

When she’s not exploring the great outdoors, she enjoys the simple pleasures of watching movies and indulging in the creativity of cooking and baking.

Jocelynn’s commitment to the well-being of our furry friends and her love for her own loyal companion enrich our SPVH family.

Veterinary Technician

Heather, our spirited Veterinary Technician who’s been a delightful addition to our team since 2022. Armed with her ongoing education at Penn Foster, she’s a lifelong learner dedicated to enhancing her skills in veterinary care.

Heather’s favorite part of this amazing profession is building long lasting connections with our clients and their beloved pets. When she’s not nose-deep in her Penn Foster courses, you’ll find her on outdoor adventures with her energetic trio: Melody the husky, Bailey the lab and Fiona the Irish setter.

Heather also shares her home with two playful cats, Xena and Harley.
